PC thinks twice before speaking and her latest quote on intolerance is proof of the same. It all began when Aamir Khan chose to voice his opinion on the growing intolerance within our nation and how his wife Kiran Rao has hinted at leaving the country, due to the same. While some were in favour of the superstar and empathized with what he had to say, others mostly took to social media and blasted him, to the extent of calling him a “desh drohi” and “jihadi.” Such venomous reactions in turn ended up justifying Aamir’s fear, sadly enough. Various Bollywood celebs were asked to give their opinion on the entire controversy and recently, PC took up the opportunity to do the same at press conference, for upcoming film Bajirao Mastani.
While Aamir mainly spoke of intolerance within the country, PC addressed the situation on a global level. “”I don’t think intolerance is about me as an actor or you as a journalist but I think as a world look at what is happening all around. There have been countless wars everywhere and I am gonna name Paris, Syria, Lebanon even Mumbai. Just for one second sit down and look around the world don’t you think everything is intolerant? We are a globe! We as a people have become like that,” said PC.
She further hinted at how people took to social media and used their anonymity to blast Aamir for his remark. “Don’t use your anonymity on social media and blast anyone, just sit down at your home and think what you are doing! Look what we have made of this country. Our ancestors have fought years and years to achieve democracy, freedom of speech, language, opinion. We are dividing ourselves,” she explained.
PC further spoke at length about how she never wishes to be addressed a woman of colour. The Quantico actress has spoken openly about how she has been a victim of racism, in the past as well.
There have been tons of opinions regarding Aamir’s intolerance remark and the issue on the whole, but we’ve gotta say that PC’s statement truly stands out and is sensible, much like herself!
